Dari Soekarno Hingga SBY: Legenda Perjalanan Bangsa Indonesia (Bagian Dua)

Kejatuhan Soekarno diakibatkan beberapa hal yang berkembang pada waktu itu: politik konfrontasi dengan Malaysia, pendudukan Papua Barat, hingga kekuatiran akan semakin besarnya pengatuh Partai Komunis Indonesia (PKI) pada perpolitikan Indonesia. Konfrontasi dengan Malaysia yang dikecam Soekarno sebagai negara boneka kolonial telah mengakibatkan Inggris menjadi kesal dengan Soekarno. Keinginan Soekarno untuk mendapatkan Papua Barat sebagai wilayah Indonesia telah membuat kesal Belanda yang pada waktu itu hendak memberikan kemerdekaan kepada Papua Barat sebagai negara berdaulat. Amerika Serikat pun juga berkepentingan untuk membersihkan Indonesia dari pengaruh komunis Sovyet. Soekarno menetapkan Soeharto menjadi pemimpin operasi militer Indonesia untuk merebut Papua Barat dan Amerika Serikat juga menemukan potensi tambang emas dan tembaga terbesar di dunia sehingga memiliki agenda bisnis juga di tanah Papua.

Entah bagaimana ceritanya, Soeharto yang berambisi untuk memerintah Indonesia berhasil melakukan negosiasi dengan intel Amerika yang salah satu kaki tangannya waktu itu adalah Adam Malik. Mereka berdua dengan bergabung kekuatan dengan Hamengkubowo IX yang memiliki pengaruh besar di TNI untuk melancarkan aksi mendongkel Soekarno yang sudah pasti dibiayai oleh banyak pihak yang berkepentingan. Yang terjadi setelah itu menjadi titik balik sejarah: G-30S yang dipakai untuk menghancurkan PKI, Supersemar, dan akhirnya pengangkatan Soeharto selaku pejabat presiden dan kemudian menjadi presiden setelah kematian Soekarno.

Soeharto mengambil langkah yang dikehendaki banyak pihak luar: menghentikan politik konfrontasi dan membasmi PKI dan semua pihak yang dicurigai terkait dengan PKI. Terjadi pambantaian banyak sekali etnis Cina pada masa sesudah Supersemar oleh karena mereka dianggap berpotensi menjadi kaki tangan RRC yang komunis. Pelanggaran HAM pasca Supersemar masih menjadi sejarah kelam di bangsa ini. Soeharto pun diberi hadiah oleh Amerika Serikat dan sekutunya: Papua Barat yang kemudian diubah namanya menjadi Irian Jaya. Soeharto pun membalas Amerika dengan membiarkan Amerika melalui salah satu perusahaannya, yaitu Freeport mengeksploitasi kekayaan alam di tanah Papua.

Hampir semua kebijakan Soeharto adalah pro Blok kapitalis yang dimotori oleh Amerika Serikat. Namun dia tidak dengan terang-terangan melakukannya, melainkan mempropagandakan dirinya sebagai Pancasilais sejati dan Soekarno dianggap sebagai telah berkhianat terhadap Pancasila, meski sejarah mencatat Soekarno adalah sang pencetus Pancasila. Salah satu kebijakan penting Soeharto ialah merubah sistem perekonomian menuju ke arah kapitalis seperti yang dikehendaki Blok Barat pada waktu itu. Dengan bantuan kelompok ekonom yang sering disebut The Berkeley Mafia, Soeharto membangun ekonomi Indonesia yang kemudian tersingkap bahwa itu semua terpusat pada kroni-kroninya. Semua disengaja oleh Soeharto demi menjaga keutuhan pemerintahannya. Kebebasan pers dikekang dan sistem legislatif diatur sedemikian rupa untuk mempertahankan kekuasaannya. Di tengah masyarakat, Soeharto mempropagandakan dirinya sebagai Bapak Pembangunan.

Soeharto berhasil membawa Indonesia kepada stabilitas dan jauh dari konflik-konflik luar negeri yang tidak perlu yang kemungkinan besar masih akan terjadi jika Soekarno tetap menjabat sebagai presiden. Dia meningkatkan kerjasama dengan negara-negara lain, mendirikan ASEAN, dan menjadikan Indonesia kembali menjadi anggota PBB. Fokus pemerintahannya bertumpu pada bidang ekonomi dan itu juga sebabnya dirinya seperti untouchable pada masanya, dengan mendapatkan dukungan luas dari dalam negeri dan luar negeri. Soeharto juga dikenal berani dengan kenekadannya menginvansi Timor Timur yang baru saja mendeklarasikan kemerdekaannya. Meskipun ditentang oleh banyak negara, namun Soeharto berhasil menutup mulut banyak bangsa dengan dalih membawa misi anti komunisme di tanah Timor.

Pada masanya pula, TNI pun berubah menjadi ABRI dan menjadi kekuatan politik utama di negeri ini. Para petinggi ABRI selepas masa pensiunnya acapkali diberikan jabatan kementrian atau gubernurial. Masa honeymoon Soeharto dengan ABRI mencapai puncaknya dengan pengangkatan Umar Wirahadikusumah sebagai wapres ketiga di masa pemerintahan Soeharto, namun bulanmadu itu pun berakhir setelah pengangkatan Sudharmono sebagai wapres keempat. Soeharto pun dipaksa dengan lembut untuk menerima Try Sutrisno sebagai wapres kelima yang berakibat dengan ketidakharmonisan di istana. ABRI ingin wapres Soeharto sebagai seorang jenderal. Namun Soeharto telah berencana mewariskan kekuasaannya kepada beberapa orang kepercayaannya, seperti Sudharmono (yang terbukti tidak populer), BJ Habibie, atau Tutut, anaknya. Usia uzur mengakbatkan Soeharto semakin tidak tanggap dengan berbagai pergerakan di sekitar dirinya.

Beberapa petinggi ABRI mulai resah atas pemilihan Habibie sebagai wakil presiden namun pada saat yang sama terdapat konflik internal di tubuh ABRI. Prabowo Subianto, yang adalah menantu Soeharto sendiri, adalah seseorang yang berambisi untuk menjadi penerus Soeharto dan dirinya sudah membangun kekuatan untuk sewaktu-waktu mengadakan kudeta jika diperlukan. Soeharto sendiri mulai kuatir akan arus bawah yang mulai jenuh akan kepemimpinannya. Kesadaran masyarakat akan korupsi, kolusi, dan nepotisme (KKN) yang merajalela di pemerintahannya membuat beberapa figur seperti Megawati Soekarnoputri dan kemudian Amien Rais menjadi populer. Soeharto pun akhirnya terhantam badai yang akhirnya mengakhiri pemerintahannya, yaitu krisis ekonomi yang melanda Asia tahun 1997-1998.

Salah satu kegemaran saya ialah menikmati mempelajari mengenai sejarah. Sejarah bangsa Indonesia sendiri adalah sesuatu yang menarik untuk disimak. Setiap pemimpin yang memimpin bangsa ini memiliki baik kelebihan maupun kekurangan masing-masing, namun mereka semua telah memiliki andil untuk tetap terpeliharanya bangsa ini hingga sekarang. Indonesia yang multi etnis telah berabad-abad mengalami akulturasi dan asimilasi. Sekarang Indonesia sudah semakin siap untuk menjadi raksasa baru dunia dari Asia setelah Rusia, China, dan India.

Soekarno sering disebut sebagai Bapak bangsa Indonesia karena beliau adalah proklamator yang kemudian menjabat sebagai presiden pertama Indonesia. Soekarno adalah seorang pejuang teguh anti kolonialisme. Dirinya tidak tega melihat bangsa Indonesia dianggap sebagai bangsa kelas bawah dan oleh karena itu dia mengabdikan hidupnya untuk membawa bangsa ini kepada harga dirinya, yaitu sejajar dengan bangsa-bangsa lain di dunia. Soekarno dikenal berani mengecam Amerika Serikat dan Uni Sovyet, mendirikan Non-Blok, dan membuat apa yang disebut New Emerging Forces. Soekarno jelas-jelas mengagendakan Indonesia menjadi Third Power di dunia selain kapitalisme Amerika dan komunisme Sovyet. Soekarno adalah orang penting Asia, dirinya sejajar dengan Mahatma Gandhi dari India. Perjuangan Soekarno telah menginspirasikan kemerdekaan banyak negara di Asia dan Afrika.

Masa awal pemerintahan Soekarno adalah ketika Indonesia masih berjuang mendapat status diakui sebagai negara berdaulat. Kemudian setelah perjuangan mempertahankan kedaulatan sudah selesai, Indonesia mulai menjalankan demokrasi. Kemudian Soekarno menemui dimana dirinya hanya menjabat sebagai kepala negara dan tidak menjabat sebagai kepala pemerintahan. Dirinya adalah simbol persatuan dan kesatuan Indonesia sebagai sebuah bangsa. Pemerintahan sehari-hari dipegang oleh perdana menteri. Namun, banyaknya konflik kepentingan dari beragam kelompok yang bermain telah membawa negeri ini pada instabilitas. Pembahasan konstitusi pun tidak menemui titik temu. Soekarno sadar jika kondisi berlarut-larut maka bangsa ini akan sulit tancap gas untuk menjadi Third Power seperti yang diimpikannya.

Dalam kondisi seperti itulah, Soekarno mengambil keputusan drastis lewat Dekrit Presiden 1959. Indonesia pun dipimpinnya ke arah yang disebutnya sebagai demokrasi terpimpin. Di dalam sistem yang baru ini, Soekarno mulai bertindak layaknya monarki absolut zaman dulu. Dia bahkan berhasil dilantik sebagai presiden seumur hidup oleh MPRS waktu itu. Tapi ternyata langkah berani Soekarno ini telah membuat ketar-ketir kedua kutub kekuatan waktu itu, baik Sovyet maupun Amerika. Soekarno tidak mau diatur Amerika namun dia juga menjaga jarak dengan Sovyet. Kedua belah pihak bertanya-tanya apa yang menjadi agenda Soekarno sehingga terjadi aksi intelijens besar-besaran pada tahun 60-an itu.

Soekarno pun membuat ulah dengan politik Konfrontasinya hingga aksi keluar dari PBB. Sovyet berusaha mempengaruhi Soekarno dengan mendanai besar-besaran Partai Komunis Indonesia (PKI) pada waktu itu. Amerika menyelusup masuk dengan memegang beberapa orang tentara. Salah satu yang berhasil dipegang adalah seorang prajurit ambisius yang bernama Soeharto. Yang menjadi masalah ialah Soeharto bukanlah figur kunci di TNI namun nampaknya dia kemungkinan besar terlibat mengarsiteki rencana pembunuhan para jenderal senior dengan pendanaan dari Amerika. Kemudian terjadilah G-30S-PKI yang menewaskan para jenderal kunci di negeri ini. Otomatis jenderal yang masih sisa pada waktu itu hanya Soeharto dan AH Nasution (yang sebenarnya nyaris dibunuh). Nasution yang kemudian cuma memiliki 2 pilihan: menentang Soeharto yang akan membuat perpecahan di tubuh TNI dan memperbesar pengaruh PKI yang sudah mulai mempersenjatai rakyat, atau dia mendukung Soeharto melenyapkan PKI untuk menjaga wibawa TNI. Nasution akhirnya terdesak pada pilihan mendukung Soeharto yang mengkambinghitamkan PKI atas kejadian G-30S. Soekarno pun dipaksa untuk membuat Supersemar karena otomatis seluruh tentara pada waktu itu ada dibawah Soeharto. Supersemar pun disalahgunakan dan dijadikan semacam surat sakti pengalihan jabatan presiden Indonesia dari Soekarno kepada Soeharto. Soekarno pun tidak ada pilihan lain karena otomatis semua kekuatannya telah dilucuti pada waktu itu dan dirinya menjadi tahanan politik Soeharto yang pertama.

Ada 3 orang penting pada masa pembentukan Orde Baru pada waktu itu: Soeharto, Sultan Hamengkubuwono IX, dan Adam Malik. Mereka semua, berdasarkan banyak fakta yang terungkap belakangan, dijadikan dadu oleh pihak CIA Amerika untuk mengusir komunisme dari Asia tenggara. Soeharto pun mendirikan Golkar dan membuat demokrasi terpimpin versinya sendiri, walaupun dia tetap mengadakan pemilu, namun kekuasaannya pada waktu itu memang hampir tidak terbatas. Hamengkubowono pun diangkat menjadi wapres Soeharto pertama dan Adam Malik menjadi menteri luar negeri. Soeharto pun menganggap dirinya sebagai raja jawa yang sejati dan pada ujungnya membuat jengkel Hamengkubowono yang tidak mau menjadi wapres untuk kedua kalinya dan pulang ke Jogja. Adam Malik pun diangkat menjadi wapres Soeharto kedua.

Soeharto berbeda kepribadian dengan Soekarno. Soekarno berambisi menjadi salah satu pemain catur utama di dunia. Soeharto berambisi menjadi raja Jawa yang memerintah negeri dengan makmur. Soeharto dan pemerintahan junta-birokratnya telah berjasa membawa kestabilan politik ke negeri ini. Namun sifatnya juga membawa banyak orang disekitarnya menjadi Asal Bapak Senang. Sifat ini akhirnya menurun juga ke bawahnya yang meniru-niru sang Bapak dalam berlagak memimpin. Indonesia pun menjadi sebuah negara feodal. Soekarno bisa kita umpamakan seperti Hugo Chavez dan Ahmadinejad masa kini sedang Soeharto tidak memiliki ambisi bermain di kancah dunia, dia hanya ingin semuanya makmur. Soeharto sering dibandingkan dengan Augusto Pinochet dan Mobutu Sese Seko. Soekarno berjuang demi harga diri bangsa Indonesia, Soeharto berjuang demi isi perut bangsa ini. Itu sebabnya dia suka disimbolkan dengan memanen padi dan gemar memuji-muji diri dengan program swasembada berasnya.

Love Scandal In A Vineyard

Now I will sing for the one I love

a song about his vineyard:

My beloved had a vineyard

on a rich and fertile hill.

He plowed the land, cleared its stones,

and planted it with the best vines.

In the middle he built a watchtower

and carved a winepress in the nearby rocks.

Then he waited for a harvest of sweet grapes,

but the grapes that grew were bitter.

The above verses are taken from the book of Isaiah chapter 5 (New Living Translation) and they tell us about somebody who has made every efforts in order to get the best wine from his vineyard. First, it is told that the vineyard was built on a rich and fertile land which he has plowed and cleared from stones. It means that the owner has chosen the best possible place for his vineyard. Second, it is told that the owner has planted it with the best vines. It means that the owner has provided the vineyard with the best possible vine, which is in Hebrew called as ‘Sorek’. It is the grapes that had scarcely perceptible seeds. Third, it is told that the owner has built a watchtower in the middle of the vineyard. It means that the vineyard is well protected, provided with guards to watch the vineyard against the depredations of man or beast. Fourth, it is told that the owner has carved a winepress in the nearby rocks. It means that the owner has provided the vineyard with the facilities to produce the best wine. Based on what the owner has done to his vineyard, it is very understandable why he looked forward for a harvest of sweet grapes. But it is told in the end that the grapes were bitter instead of the fact the owner has done everything he could possibly do to get the best out of his vineyard.

Every businessman who started any business would likely to expect to get profit from his business. Every parent who raised children would likely to expect to have obedient children. Every farmer who planted his field would likely to expect to have plentiful harvest. Can you feel the heartache of the vineyard owner after knowing that the vineyard produced bitter grapes? This is how he felt:

Now, you people of Jerusalem and Judah,

you judge between me and my vineyard.

What more could I have done for my vineyard

that I have not already done?

When I expected sweet grapes,

why did my vineyard give me bitter grapes?

Can you feel him when he said what more could he have done for his vineyard that he had not already done? What would he do next? Here is the answer:

Now let me tell you

what I will do to my vineyard:

I will tear down its hedges

and let it be destroyed.

I will break down its walls

and let the animals trample it.

I will make it a wild place

where the vines are not pruned

and the ground is not hoed,

a place overgrown with briers and thorns.

I will command the clouds

to drop no rain on it.

What a sad ending to the vineyard that was truly loved by its owner. Moreover, it is told that the owner of the vineyard is The Lord himself:

The nation of Israel is the vineyard of the LORD of Heaven's Armies. The people of Judah are his pleasant garden.He expected a crop of justice, but instead he found oppression.He expected to find righteousness, but instead he heard cries of violence.

Around 700 years after the words of The Lord were spoken by the prophet Isaiah, God-incarnated Jesus repeats almost a similar story. He spoke to the groups of religious leaders of Israel in Matthew Gospel chapter 21 (NLT). This is what he said:

"Now listen to another story. A certain landowner planted a vineyard, built a wall around it, dug a pit for pressing out the grape juice, and built a lookout tower. Then he leased the vineyard to tenant farmers and moved to another country. At the time of the grape harvest, he sent his servants to collect his share of the crop. But the farmers grabbed his servants, beat one, killed one, and stoned another. So the landowner sent a larger group of his servants to collect for him, but the results were the same. "Finally, the owner sent his son, thinking, `Surely they will respect my son.' "But when the tenant farmers saw his son coming, they said to one another, `Here comes the heir to this estate. Come on, let's kill him and get the estate for ourselves!' So they grabbed him, dragged him out of the vineyard, and murdered him. "When the owner of the vineyard returns," Jesus asked, "what do you think he will do to those farmers?" The religious leaders replied, "He will put the wicked men to a horrible death and lease the vineyard to others who will give him his share of the crop after each harvest."Then Jesus asked them, "Didn't you ever read this in the Scriptures? `The stone that the builders rejected has now become the corner stone. This is the LORD's doing, and it is wonderful to see.' I tell you, the Kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a nation that will produce the proper fruit. Anyone who stumbles over that stone will be broken to pieces, and it will crush anyone it falls on." When the leading priests and Pharisees heard this parable, they realized he was telling the story against them—they were the wicked farmers."

This time, Jesus talked about the fulfillment of the prophecy spoken though Isaiah seven centuries earlier. God as the owner of the vineyard has been desperately longed for the best fruit he could get, but after waiting patiently for such a long time, he still could not find what he looked for. That’s why Jesus said that the Kingdom of God was taken from the people of Israel to a new nation that he expected to produce the fruit he wants. The new nation is the church.

In Exodus 19, God has provided a destiny for the nation of Israel. He wanted them to be his own special treasure from among all the peoples on earth; for all the earth belongs to him. And they will be his kingdom of priests, his holy nation (verses 5-6, NLT). This destiny was never fulfilled by Israel. That’s why God is designing a new chosen nation, that is the church. Apostle Peter said that God calls the church to be a chosen people, royal priests, a holy nation, God's very own possession. As a result, they can show others the goodness of God, for he called them out of the darkness into his wonderful light (1 Pet 2:9, NLT).

So, it is clear that God is looking for the sweet fruit. What kind of fruit that God couldn’t find in the people of Israel which he expects to find in his church? In Jesus’ time, he addressed his anger mostly to the priests, scribes, and the Pharisees. These groups of people are known to be very much religious and loved to follow all the rules or ordinances of God in order to have a holy living. But Jesus often rebuked them for their hypocrisy and judgment attitude. He even called them as the plant which is not planted by the Father and blind men (Mat 15). Jesus said that although they are very religious, they are not pleasing to God of the vineyard. He said that:

`These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.Their worship is a farce, for they teach man-made ideas as commands from God.'

Brennan Manning was right when he said that “Christianity is not primarily a moral code, or an ethic, or a philosophy of life,” He adds. “It’s a love affair. Jesus takes us to the father, and they pour out the Holy Spirit upon us — not to be nicer people with better morals, but brand new creations, prophets, lovers, human torches ignited with the flaming Spirit of the living God.”

What God is looking for all these times are none other than the human hearts. It is the real home that God is longing to have. He is not pleased with the majestic temple made by King Solomon, but he is interested in dwelling among his people. Listen to the heartbeat of God when he said firstly to the people of Israel this love song:

For you are a holy people, who belong to the LORD your God. Of all the people on earth, the LORD your God has chosen you to be his own special treasure. "The LORD did not set his heart on you and choose you because you were more numerous than other nations, for you were the smallest of all nations! Rather, it was simply that the LORD loves you, and he was keeping the oath he had sworn to your ancestors. That is why the LORD rescued you with such a strong hand from your slavery and from the oppressive hand of Pharaoh, king of Egypt. Understand, therefore, that the LORD your God is indeed God. He is the faithful God who keeps his covenant for a thousand generations and lavishes his unfailing love on those who love him and obey his commands. But he does not hesitate to punish and destroy those who reject him. (Deuteronomy 7, NLT)

The number one agenda that our God has when he first created mankind was that he could have deep intimate loving fellowship with the people He created. God wants to shower his love the one he loved. This same God has not changed until today. He is still looking for people who are willing to give their hearts to Him. Even among the best churches, he is still saying these words: "Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends. (Rev 3, NLT)”. God is still looking for the home for him to abide. Would you love to have yourself as a home for God? This is how you can do it:

"All who love me will do what I say.
