Who's The Greatest?

“Then there arose a reasoning among them, which of them should be the greatest.” (Luke 9:46)

Nowadays, there is a fight among churches. Every church wants to be the biggest, the largest, the best, the most right in doctrine, the most popular, the richest, the most powerful, the most successful, etc. all they want is to get those predicate. That’s an old story. 2000 years ago, the Jesus’ disciples fought among themselves just to be the greatest (or in other word, the most anointed, the cleverest in doctrine, or may be the most successful in soul-winning business) to be the greatest is natural, but God only interested in supernatural things. He wants his disciples to be the greatest servants of other. Jesus said, “ye know that the princes of the gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them. But whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister.”(Matthew 20:25-26) have us forgotten what our Lord had said if not, why now everyone is competing to be the greatest.

Too bad, but I must say these words. Right now, there are more Pharisees sitting in church than those who belongs to Jesus party. Why? Everyone of us thinks that we are the most correct in doctrine, we are the most capable in hearing God’s voice, we are the most powerful in prayer, we are the most blessed-righteous person on planet Earth and we say to God, thanks God because I’m not like that person, I’m not belong to that church, I’m not being deceived by the Devil like those godless people. Man! You have to read these verses: “ two men went up to the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. I past twice in a week, I give tithes of all that I possess. And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for everyone that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.” (Luke 18:10-14) Amen!

kadang kadang kita secara ga sadar merasa "paling" di dunia. padahal sebenarnya hal itu yang menjatuhkan kita. Kadang kita ga sadar malah jadi farisi itu.
